REQUESTING A QUOTE

Thank you for requesting a quote from de Silva Digital Printing. We believe in providing quality printing and service to our customers.

What we need to quote accurately

The more detail you provide, the faster we can respond with accurate information and pricing. All details are important. Please be as descriptive as possible. Here is our list of some basic, yet essential information to include in your next quote request:

Pre - Flight Check

You have approved your quote via email and we have received your artwork. We will now check for print readiness. This is known as a Pre – flight check. In printing, pre-flight is the process of confirming that the digital file required for the printing process are all present, valid, correctly formatted, and of the desired type and size. If we see any issues with your file at this point, we will notify you. This gives you the opportunity

         - to amend or correct your artwork and to resubmit it.

         - Or we can fix it for you, for an additional fee. We then submit a proof for your approval.

Proof

A "proof" is a preview of your print-ready file, allowing you to examine and confirm layout, text, and content before your order goes to print. We rely on your thorough inspection of the proof to detect and correct any errors. Orders will not go to press until we receive your proof approval. Soft and hard proof options are available.

What is a Hard Proof?

A hard proof is a hard copy of what your final project will look like. If you are ordering a brochure for your company, the hard proof will be a copy of that brochure.

      - Be aware that hard proofs add time and cost.

     - While hard proofs provide a better sense of colour than online proofs, they are not intended to be, and cannot be, a precise colour match to your final printed piece. This proof has good colour accuracy; however, it is just a guide.

Please consider that hard proofs sent may extend your final delivery timeline. Take into consideration printing, finishing, delivery and approval of your hard copy proof takes time. Once we receive your approval for a hard proof copy, we will update your request and email you a revised and updated invoice, to account for your hard proof copy.

What is a Soft Proof?

A soft proof, on the other hand, is an on-screen proof. This is a PDF file reproducing your finished project, and it will be fine for most projects. You need to be aware that colours on screen will not match exactly to a final print as monitor settings vary considerably. If you will be soft proofing a lot of files, then you may want to calibrate your monitor software to ensure consistency.
